FAQ: How do I get my Certificate of Destruction?

After the secure destuction of every batch of confidential documents and data, Topwood (data processor) will provide you with a Certificate of Destruction as required under principle 7 of the Data Protection Act 1998. Depending on the service used, you will be provided with your certificate either via email or the secure login area on our website. Read on to find out more.
 

 

 

 

Principle 7 of the Act relates to the security of files and data.  It states that as part of a secure destruction process a proof of destruction should be obtained.

On completion of onsite shredding or offsite shredding and destruction services, we will provide you with a certificate of destruction to add to your records.

 

How do you get your certificate?
 
Our one-off and bulk clearance customers receive an email from us with the certificate attached as a PDF attachment and our regular shredding customers can download them from the secure login area on our website.
